Little Patuxent River Half Marathon, 10K & 5K
Saturday, Feb 21
Update - Trail Conditions
Runners,
This morning, we marked the run course for all three race distances. Please read the info below to be ready for race day - TOMORROW, Saturday, Feb 21.
For all information about this race, go to www.rivalraceseries.com/littlepatuxentriverrun.
5K Run Course
Currently, due to the recent rain fall, the 1.55 mile out-and-back run course is slightly icy, slushy and very wet (large puddles of deep water). Runners can run around the puddles or straight through them. The very wide run course is limited to 2 runners-wide (2 people passing in opposite directions). The anticipated forecast shows rain ending this morning and warmer temps into race day. However, we are unsure how much of the trail will drain and dry. It is recommended that runners wear shoes/clothes that have decent tread and plan to get wet/muddy.
10K & Half Marathon Run Course
The first and last 1.5 miles of the 6.55 mile course are the same as the 5K course. See paragraph above for trail conditions. Miles 1.5 through 5 (back half of course, natural trail area) are clear and dry, with only a few short areas of snow, slush and mud. The anticipated forecast shows rain ending this morning and warmer temps into race day. However, we are unsure how much of the trail will drain and dry. It is recommended that runners wear shoes/clothes that have decent tread and plan to get wet/muddy.
Finisher Medals
Due to trail conditions, if you no longer wish to run in the race, you may pick up a finisher medal at Packet Pick Up today (Friday) or tomorrow (Saturday) along with your shirt, bib and gloves. If you chose to do this, it is expected that you will NOT be participating in the race tomorrow.

Stay safe and warm,
