Because demolition of the Ann Street parking structure is expected to continue through the summer, the building at 161 William Street will remain closed through Summer I and Summer II sessions.
We know this is an inconvenience, but the demolition work creates noise, disruption, and dust throughout the building. Demolition is likely to be complete toward the end of the summer, and we will clean all space and test air quality prior to re-occupancy. Safety remains our priority, and we will keep you apprised of progress.
In the meantime, we have made alternative arrangements for our students, faculty, and staff. Here’s what you need to know:
-
The 33 Beekman residence hall remains safe. A small number of rooms along the south facade from the basement to the 3rd floor remain off-limits by order of the Department of Buildings.
-
Classes that typically meet in 161 William Street will have alternate meeting places for the Summer I and Summer II sessions, including in temporary space we obtained obtained from Trinity Church and at WeWork. Students, if you are enrolled in a course that typically meets in 161 William Street, please be sure to check your Pace email for instructions from your faculty.
-
Although 161 William Street is temporarily closed, student services typically housed in that building remain available:
-
NYC Counseling Center can be contacted 24/7 at (212) 346-1526.
-
Content Tutoring for the Learning Commons has moved to E201 in the Birnbaum Library at One Pace Plaza.
-
Career Services is available virtually, via phone, and on our Pleasantville Campus.
-
Faculty and staff offices are inaccessible. Please contact your department chair or supervisor regarding alternate work space locations or remote work arrangements. We have also made arrangements for temporary office space at 199 Water Street. Please contact Aisha Moyla to gain access to this space.
-
If you must retrieve critical personal belongings from 161 William Street during the closure, please complete this Qualtrics form. The Office of Safety and Security will be reviewing requests and escorting you inside the building if your request is able to be accommodated.
We remain in regular contact with New York City’s Office of Emergency Management, Department of Environmental Protection, and other stakeholders, including first responders. If we receive new information or the situation changes, we will promptly notify our community.
Thank you for your continued patience.
