Important Update
The Limited District has been informed that incorrect property tax statements have been sent via postal mail; corrected tax statements will be posted online and will also be mailed. If your property taxes are paid through an escrow account by your mortgage company, we recommend notifying them that a revised bill will be mailed in early December. For any questions about your tax statement, please contact the Travis County Tax Assessor's office at 512-854-9473.
------------------------------------------
Please be aware that some Lost Creek residents have already received their property tax bills for 2024, which include significant errors. The errors we have seen are:
- An additional line item, "Lost Creek Disannexation", adds a second City of Austin tax to the total bill. This line item should not appear at all for 2024.
- The taxable value for the line item "Lost Creek Disannexation" does not account for any homestead exemption. For 2025 and 2026, as Lost Creek pays off the municipal bond debt per the disannexation legislation, the assessed value should include a reduction for homestead exemption.
The City is aware of the error and is working with Travis County to correct it.
Residents who have received their tax bills should look for these errors and verify the amount owed via the Travis County Tax Assessor's website. Most tax bills have not been posted or have been pulled down, so do not be alarmed if your property shows that no bill has been issued yet.
For residents who do not pay their property taxes directly, but instead pay via escrow through a mortgage company, please consider verifying that your mortgage company has not received the erroneous tax bill and/or already paid it.
