Governor Cooper has issued an executive order immediately freezing utility shutoffs statewide for all electric, gas, and water/waste water services.
This executive order also encourages telephone, cable, and internet service provides to freeze shutoffs as well.
This executive order is the latest in a series of actions taken by the state to ease the economic impact of Covid-19. Recently, NC Supreme Court Chief Justice Beasley took an important action to stop all pending evictions from happening. This order also encourages all new evictions to be delayed.
