Dear Friends,
We hope you and your families are having a wonderful start to spring. This month, we are happy to put a spotlight on the Miami Transplant Institute (MTI) – a great point of pride for Jackson Health System. MTI offers life-saving transplant, support, and rehabilitation programs to children and adults facing organ failure—backed by world-class resources from Jackson and the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. We’re excited for you to learn more about the compassionate, skilled, and experienced care the MTI team provides in this edition of our newsletter.
In addition, we are counting down the final days leading up to our annual Golden Angels Gala, one of the most glamorous and anticipated social events of the season. We are grateful to our Golden Angels who have raised millions to support Jackson’s mission and generously host our gala each year.
We wish you all a beautiful spring, and look forward to seeing you soon.
All the best,

Since its opening in 1970, MTI has been dedicated to offering patients the best possible care. Today, we are one of the top transplant centers in the U.S., with our surgeons performing more than 600 procedures annually. Donor Highlight:
TeamFootWorks

The annual Waterford 5K, produced by TeamFootWorks, was held on Friday, November 12, 2021. As the official event beneficiary, Holtz Children’s Hospital was presented with a percentage of the event’s proceeds. The 3.1-mile run/walk featured a beautiful setting, post-race party with DJ and light show, delicious food, and family games. A special thank you to TeamFootWorks for supporting Holtz Children’s since 2017, and helping give children a second chance at living happier and healthier lives.

Donor Highlight:
A Grateful Patient
|
|
Meet Haleigh, a former Holtz Children's patient who made a donation to the hospital on her 12th birthday to show her gratitude for the excellent care she received. “While I was being tested for lactose intolerance at Holtz Children’s, I was given a Monopoly game to play with. It helped distract me and bring some joy during the process. When my testing was complete, I got to take the Monopoly game home with me. I am so happy that I was able to bring other children joy, just as I felt when I was in the same situation.” Through her donation, Haleigh has allowed some of our most vulnerable patients to get through their treatments with the help of new games and toys. Thank you, Haleigh, for thinking of others and helping children like you take their minds off of their hospital stay.
