NC Budget
The North Carolina General Assembly has officially passed the 2026 state budget, making significant investments in education, public safety, healthcare, infrastructure, and economic development while maintaining a fiscally responsible approach for taxpayers. This budget delivers meaningful support to communities across our state, including historic investments in teacher pay, law enforcement, rural healthcare, transportation, and tax relief that will benefit North Carolina families for years to come. I will have more details in the newsletter in weeks to come.
I'm especially proud that this budget brings substantial resources back to House District 9 and Eastern North Carolina. Through this budget, more than $169 million has been secured for projects that will strengthen our communities and improve quality of life across Pitt County. These investments include funding for the new Brody Medical Education Building at ECU, improvements to local water and sewer infrastructure, support for rural hospitals, expanded healthcare residency programs, economic development at Pitt-Greenville Airport, scholarships for ECU students, public safety equipment, and investments in local nonprofits and recreation. These projects will create opportunities, improve critical services, and ensure our region continues to grow and thrive.
Every dollar invested represents a commitment to the people of Eastern North Carolina. From upgrading aging infrastructure and expanding healthcare access to supporting education and creating economic opportunities, this budget reflects the importance of bringing taxpayer dollars back home to benefit the communities we serve. I remain committed to working every day to deliver real results for the families, businesses, and communities of House District 9.
