The Protect Children from Cannabis Act (HB 680)

Last week I held my press conference for my bill, The Protect Children from Cannabis Act. I was joined by Representative Chesser, Representative Campbell, Sheriff Thomas, Sheriff Crisco, 2 members from Alcohol Law Enforcement (ALE) and Dabney. Dabney was able to share her story about her struggle with cannabis use as a teen and how it affected her life. Thank you for sharing your story, Dabney! This act is about regulating intoxicating cannabis like delta 8 and 9, and prohibiting the sale to those under the age of 21. The effects of these products on our youth are profound and devastating

Update on Bills

Last week HB 610, HB 565, and HB 637 were all heard in committees this week. My bill, Study on Year-Round school (HB 610) is set to be heard on the floor. This bill will allow a study to be done on year-round schooling for children and the benefits of it. Studies have shown, especially in the younger grades, that children are falling behind during summer break. Check Yes, Save Lives (HB 565) is set to be heard in another committee. This act will allow people to be able to become organ doners through their income tax returns, which can help save more lives! Community of Practice ATR Supplement (HB 637) is also set to be heard in another committee this week. This bill will grant advanced teaching roles salary supplement flexibility to Pitt County schools participating in the community of practice model. All of these acts are a continuation of my agenda for this year!
