HB 125 Becomes Law (Includes Hospital Safety)


North Carolina House Representatives Charles Miller and Reece Pyrtle joined Rep. Reeder to highlight language in HB 125 that includes plans for protection against violence in hospitals.


Rep. Reeder said after the press conference: “This bill that was recently signed by Gov Cooper, contains provisions of my HB 809 which is the Hospital Violence Protection Act which requires law enforcement officers to be present at hospitals with emergency departments. It will provide safety and security to patients and staff.”

Veto Overrides

This week, Rep. Reeder voted to override five more of Gov. Cooper’s vetoes, putting measures into law that strengthen election integrity, expand nuclear energy, and cut government red tape. Another big win for the people of North Carolina!


✔ End political interference in election administration (SB 749)

✔ Strengthen election integrity and voter confidence (SB 747)

✔ Add balance to unelected government boards (SB 512)

✔ Remove regulatory barriers to utilize nuclear energy (SB 678)

✔ Reduce unnecessary government regulations (HB 600)

SAFE Act Passed


HB415 (Stop Addiction Fraud Ethics Act) passed unanimously this week and has been sent to the Governor. The bill establishes the elements below.

• Recovery residence – A shared living environment centered on peer support and connection to services that promote recovery from substance use disorders.

• Treatment facility – A facility or program that is, or is required to be, licensed, accredited, or certified to provide substance use disorder treatment services.

• Treatment provider – A person or entity that is, or is required to be, licensed, accredited, or certified to provide substance use disorder treatment facilities. This term includes treatment facilities.


– Establishes laws for advertising and marketing materials; the operation of a recovery residence or treatment facility while also providing outpatient services; and prohibited actions and consequences for violation. 

Historic Funding for Ayden, NC


Rep. Reeder met with leaders in Ayden to provide a check for $3 Million which he secured in the state budget. The funds will be used to support water and sewer projects.


Rep. Reeder said after the ceremony: "When I was elected, I promised to improve my community. This funding will be crucial in maintaining and improving the Town of Ayden.
