Although we are in recess, I remain very busy helping constituents, meeting groups, traveling the state to discuss policy, and working on issues for the remainder of this session and in preparation for the short session next year. NC House passed SB 449

Last week the House went back into session to vote on a few bills. We passed a bill that provides raises for teachers, law enforcement and

state employees. This bill will give teachers 8%+ raises and the highest starting teacher pay in the Southeast. Law Enforcement will receive 13% raises on average plus bonuses and state employees will receive 2.5% raises higher than what the Governor proposed.

This month I participated in a panel with Representative Cunningham, Peter Daniel, and Rebecca Cerese. During this panel I discussed Medicare, Medicaid, the private insurance market, and the need to engage patients in their own health. Cherokee Indian Hospital Visit

This month I had the privilege of visiting the Cherokee Indian Hospital while visiting Cherokee, NC. Along with Rep. Allen Chesser, we toured the hospital and multispecialty clinic and other health facilities. This was an impressive facility the strives for integrated health. Thank you Cherokee Indian Hospital for allowing me to visit!

Moore County Medical Society

I spoke at the Moore County Medical Society. I talked about key healthcare initiatives, Medicaid funding, and issues and policies that affect health care. Thank you Moore County Medical Society for inviting me to speak!

Benchmarks Panel

This month I participated in panel while visiting Cherokee. During this panel I was able to discuss key issues in healthcare policy, mental health, and child welfare. We were also able to discuss advocacy efforts to help improve the lives of North Carolinians. The Panel included Reps. Chesser, Loftis, and Campbell.

State of Reform Panel

I was invited to participate at the State of Reform meeting in Raleigh earlier this month. I discussed the challenges in healthcare, opportunities for improvement, the political landscape, Medicaid, and growing the workforce.

IntelliChoice and Bayda Visit

IntelliChoice, located in Winterville, and Bayda came for meeting while we were in session this month. During our meeting we were able to discuss how the Medicaid reimbursement changes are affecting their business and the home care that they provide. Thank you IntelliChoice and Bayda!

Camping World

This month I met and talked with the CEO of Camping World, Marcus Lemonis. Mr. Lemonis shared his heartfelt love of the flag and our county and that it represents. Speaker Hall and Representatives Chesser, Riddell, and Zenger also participated. We talked about the NCGA's work to protect the flag at Camping World. The flag is display of patriotism and love of country.

Lumbee Homecoming

I had a wonderful time at the Lumbee Homecoming with Representative Lowery. I was able to meet many new people and learn more about the Lumbee tribe and their history.
