Book Harvest Visit

This week I had the privilege to go to Maynard Children's Hospital and pass out book boxes with the Book Harvest staff. Book Harvest is an organization that distributes boxes of books to newborn babies and their families, ensuring that reading becomes an integral part of a baby's earliest days. Last year I was able to secure funding for this organization in the State budget and was grateful to be able to see the program in action. Thank you, Book Harvest!

This act will establish and enter NC into an interstate compact for the practice of social work, making licensure easier.

Pitt County Fun Fact!!

In 1774 following the death of Richard Evans before official completion of the town’s establishment, seven appointed commissioners laid the town into 100 half-acre lots sold by public auction. The original charter was amended to fulfill all of the requirements of the General Assembly and Martinsborough became the county seat of Pitt County. The David Stone and Peter Brown survey map of North Carolina (pictured above) was one of the first maps to show the settlement of Greenville.
