CARE FIRST ACT (HB 434)

This week Representative Reeder introduced HB 434, the CARE FIRST ACT. This bill will reform insurance Prior Authorization and allow patients and their doctors to be put back in the driver's seat when it comes to healthcare decisions. Representatives Campbell, Bell, and Cothman have also joined Representative Reeder on this bill. This legislative act is a continuation of Representative Reeder's agenda for this year!

Simpson Election Changes (HB 3)

HB 3, Simpson Election Changes, will change the town election year to even years, which will increase turnout. The request was made by the town. Supported by Representatives Reeder and Brown. This bill has been passed by the House of Representatives and is now due to be taken up by the Senate.

The Disaster Recovery Act (HB 47)

This past week the Disaster Recovery Act was signed. This act will provide a total of $524 million dollars to help Western NC. This bill has also provided $217 million dollars to help people get back into their homes in Eastern NC along with $110 million dollars for farmers who had non-Hurricane Helene related losses.

Physician Assistant Day of Action

Earlier this week Representative Reeder had the opportunity to speak with the PA students from across the state. He was able to talk to them about the importance of advocacy and getting to know their legislators. Representative Reeder was honored to be able to speak to this group of students and encourage them as they continue their education!


Pitt Community College


This week Pitt Community College came to the General Assembly for the NC Community College Day of Action. Representative Reeder was able to see Dr. Maria Pharr again and was able to learn about Pitt Community College's welding program and the expansion of it. Representative Reeder loved being able to see the community college he represents and was glad to see them at the General Assembly this past week!


NC Academy of Family Physicians

This week Representative Reeder had the opportunity to meet with the NC Academy of Family Physicians while they were here on their advocacy day! Representative Reeder was thrilled to meet with them as their work is important in keeping the people of NC healthy. During their visit to the General Assembly, Representative Reeder was able to take them on the floor and tell them about the history of the NC House Chamber.
