Rep. Reeder Named Chair of Health Committee and Health Appropriations Committee.

Rep. Reeder has been appointed as a chair of both the Health Committee and the Appropriations Committee for Health and Human Services. "I am honored to have been entrusted with this responsibility by my colleagues," said Rep. Reeder. "Healthcare is one of the most pressing issues facing our state, and I am committed to working collaboratively to address the challenges that impact families, providers, and communities across North Carolina.

Rep. Reeder Holds Press Conference Discussing Prior Authorization Reform

Rep. Reeder took part in a press conference recently discussing plans to enact prior authorization reform this long session. The reason for these reforms, is that the process is often burdensome for physicians and patients, requiring significant time, money, and effort, which can delay care.

"What I see showing up in my clinical practice is people who have gotten sicker while they're waiting for tests to be done, and I know that that's bad for patients." Rep. Reeder said. "And so I see that first hand. We really need to solve this problem"

Rep. Reeder hopes to see this legislation through and will provide updates as they are available.

Income Tax Rate Reduction

Rep. Reeder would like to remind folks that starting this month, the state income tax will decrease to 4.25%. This will be followed by another decrease next year to 3.99%. This comes from provisions in the budget passed last year focusing on reducing taxes for workers in the state.

Page Program

The NC House of Representatives page program is now taking applications for the 2025 long session. This program offers young men and women the opportunity to learn about, and participate in, the legislative process of our state. It is a four day long experience that allows high school students that are currently in grades ten, eleven, or twelve to observe firsthand how our laws are made. It provides them the unique privilege of working in the House Chamber in the midst of legislative action.

House Pages are important to the operation of the General Assembly as they assist the Members and staff of the House during the legislative session. They participate in daily sessions, committee meetings, and perform other duties including, but not limited to, delivering messages and materials within the legislative complex, completing mailings for Members, and passing out documents or running errands in the House Chamber during daily sessions.
