White House Visit

This week I had the privilege to participate in the presentation of the MAHA report at the White House. This report details the health crisis impacting our kids. The causes are not clear, but the all-government reponse will look for causes and identify solutions. While we may not agree completely, we can't deny that our children need help. A guiding principle for me is to improve the health of NC.

Senator Tillis

This week I was able to go to DC and speak with Senator Tillis. I spoke with Senator Tillis about healthcare, supporting Medicaid, improving care for mental illness, and budget discussion in North Carolina.

Budget Update

This week the NC House voted on the North Carolina State budget. The NC House has put together a budget that is fiscally responsible and makes investments where it really counts. The House budget delivers targeted tax relief for working families and raises starting teacher pay to the highest in the Southeast. I am grateful to work alongside my colleagues on a budget that is both financially responsible and will benefit the people of North Carolina.

Memorial Day Weekend

As we head into Memorial Day Weekend I would like to remember and honor all the men and women who have lost their lives serving our country. These dedicated individuals made the ultimate sacrifice for our county and our freedoms. The legislature will be closed on Monday in remembrance.

Staff Changes

A sad day for me, but a great opportunity for Bryson. He is going to the big leagues to work for Congressman Edwards in DC. I appreciate his dedication, hard work, enthusiasm, and knowledge. He has been instrumental in the success of my office over the last year. I am happy to welcome Allison Gilbert! Allison is a recent NC State graduate who majored in Communications with a concentration in Public Relations. She comes to the office after working for Speaker Hall for the last year. We are excited to have her join us! You can reach Allison at Allison.Gilbert@ncleg.gov. Maddie Kurfees will continue on as an intern for another semester. She has been invaluable in researching policies and preparing me for committees and constituent services.

Pitt County Fun Fact!!

In 1761 A five-member commission was appointed to supervise the construction of Pitt County’s first courthouse. Commission Chairman John Hardee’s house, located three miles east of what would become Greenville and south of the Tar River, served as the county’s first courthouse.

Thank you for entrusting me with the honor of serving as your representative. I am here to represent your interests and values, and to be a resource for you.
