DID THEY REALLY USE HORSEHAIR?
John Marshall of Marshall Plastering is inspecting the horse-hair plaster ceiling in the Federal Parlor. Restoration of the room is scheduled to begin later this year.

Horse hair was mixed into wet plaster to prevent cracking and added strength. Cow and pig hair were also used in "horse-hair" plaster.
