March 12, 2020

Dear Members:

This communication serves as an update to our communication posted and disseminated yesterday afternoon (click here) .

On March 11, 2020, the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) posted and disseminated ‘Interim Recommendations for Coronavirus (COVID-19) Community Mitigation Strategies’ (please review here) . Any updates will be available at  www.michigan.gov/coronavirus .

The MDHHS interim recommendations for COVID-19 apply at all individual, organizational, and community levels. These apply to businesses, workplaces, schools, community organizations, health care institutions, and individuals of all ages, backgrounds and health profiles. A few of the interim recommendations include avoiding large gatherings (e.g. greater than 100 people in a shared space) or moving to smaller and staggered gatherings, following basic personal-hygiene measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19 to others, and staying home when you are sick.

As relayed yesterday, we recommend that you carefully look at your own programming, including events and travel that require air transportation, and stay in contact with local and state departments of public health with further questions. We believe these entities will continue to provide you with timely and relevant information on the Coronavirus.

There is currently no vaccine to prevent Coronavirus. The best ways to prevent the spread of COVID-19 are the same as preventing the cold and flu. Again, please review the MDHHS Interim Recommendations for Coronavirus (COVID-19) Community Mitigation Strategies.

Please share this information with family, friends, co-workers, etc. This matter is rapidly evolving. Future updates on US Youth Soccer or MSYSA programming will be posted on our website and/or shared as timely as possible.

Sincerely,

Thomas Faro
Executive Director
