TWO STUDIES, WHOSE RESULTS ARE              
 IMPORTANT TO ALL!!!!

Recently two studies were released to the public that we think are
so important this article will appear in BOTH of our newsletters!

The first was done by Harvard Business School. They analyzed data
on the effects working mothers have on their children. The data came from
24 countries over 10 years. Here are some of the major results:

1. The daughters of of employed mothers were 4.5% more likely to be
employed themselves then are daughters of stay at home mothers. Though
a small percentage there is less then 1% chance this is the result of chance.

2. 33% of the daughters of working mothers held supervisory roles,
compared to only 25% of daughters of stay at home moms.

3. Income of daughters of working mothers was $5200 per year higher
then the income of daughters who stayed at home.

4. Sons of working mothers are likely to spend more time caring for
family members and doing household chores than are sons of stay at
home mothers.

The implications are clear: Though the guilt you feel as a working
mother may be very real it is less and less warranted.

In other words:

You are not harming your children you are giving them a view of life
that helps them in their work & personal lives.

As you have heard me say repeatedly; are you preparing your children
for the life they will live or for one that no longer exists?

The Second Study came from LeanIn.org and McKinsey & Company
It is called: Women In The Workplace 2015

This study was also extensive including 30,000 employees from
118 companies.

It's biggest conclusion was:

Corporate America is not a path to Gender Equality

Now you may be saying "big deal I already knew this!"
and I would agree with you. It is not news to those of us who interact with
corporate.

The real importance of the study I suggest is;

1. They found that at the current rate of the last 3 years of women being
promoted it will take:

25 Years to reach gender parity at the VP level and it will take
100 Years to reach gender parity at the CEO level!!

Not astonishing but good to now have statistical proof of the discrimination
women experience when trying to move up in their companies.

2. Two companies who have the ears of your hierarchy and are
somewhat trusted by them: LeanIn.org and McKinsey have studied
this and are saying organizations need to do more to reach
gender parity!

I want to welcome these very distinguished organizations to the party
and hopefully this very significant data will be discussed and utilized
to plot a different course for women in Corporations!

Some of the data they found is really damning:

"Despite modest improvements since 2012, women are still
underrepresented at every level in the corporate pipeline, and the
disparity is greatest in senior leadership."

I'd be copying all of my hierarchy on this one if I were you!

There are other stats just as damning but I will let you read it and
discover them.

Now what do we do with these studies?

The First study attacks our internal belief system as women.
It points out our fears and subsequent quilt may be unfounded
and we need to stop stopping ourselves because our kids will be just fine!

The Second Study needs to get more publicity inside your company and
you should all be holding meetings to discuss the implications
and recommendations for the future of your company.  (For the full study click the link: Women in the Workplace 2015 )

Get a copy of the study from Lean In or McKinsey and circulate it all over
the organization, most importantly, in your hierarchy. Then demand
meetings to discuss it and the ramifications of this clear discrimination
against women for your business, because they are significant!

Lastly stop making excuses for your company and your hierarchy
and stop blaming women for this condition.

See if you aren't allowed in the pipeline you cannot get ahead! Pretty
simple I would say!

... and the Credibility Gap

One more note on this crucial study that Susan is featuring from McKinsey:  74% of companies reported that gender diversity is a top priority of the CEO but less than half the employees believe that gender diversity is a priority for their CEO and only a third see it as priority for their immediate manager.  I think the phrase is walk the talk!

Our Cancellation Policy
To avoid problems in the future here is the policy:

1. All registration fees are non-refundable.
2. If a participant cancels from a workshop more than 30 days prior to first day of a course, they will be given a credit, less a $1,000 transfer fee to be used toward another workshop.  They have 2 months to use the credit from the date of the cancellation after that there is no credit or refund.
3. You can only transfer once then the credit is gone.
4. There is no credit if you cancel less than 14 days prior to the first day of the course.
5. If you register online credit cards will be charged immediately.
6. You can only register for an individual course with a credit card. we accept MasterCard, Visa and American Express.
7. We do not "reserve" spaces in a course.  If you have not paid with a credit card you are not in the course.
