Halloween 2020
Your Clairmont Heights Civic Association is always looking for ways to bring our neighborhood together, and Halloween has always been a popular CHCA event. As the number of new COVID cases in DeKalb County continues to increase, the CHCA Executive Board has unanimously concluded that we cannot organize a neighborhood party or trick-or-treating event this year.

We CAN, however, organize three physically distant Halloween events for the neighborhood:
  • Share photos of your yard decorations, jack-o-lanterns, and of your solo or family costumes to our CHCA Facebook Page, under the Show Us Your Decorations!, Show Us Your Jack-O-Lanterns, and Show Us Your Costumes! posts.

  • Vote for your favorite yard decorations and costumes by liking the photos. You are welcome to vote for more than one photo.

  • On Friday, October 30th we will officially announce the winner of the Show Us Your Decorations! contest. Exciting prizes TBD.

  • On Monday, November, 2nd, we will officially announce the winner of the Show us your Jack-o-Lanterns! and Show Us Your Costume! contests. Exciting prizes TBD.

PLEASE NOTE THAT YOU HAVE TO ANSWER THREE MEMEBERSHIP QUESTIONS AND AGREE TO ABIDE BY THE GROUP RULES TO BE APPROVED AS A MEMBER.
If your family is planning to hand out candy, note that using outdoor tables for contactless candy distribution is preferable to having trick-or-treaters coming up to the door.

Either way, we encourage you to follow the CDC's guidelines for Halloween. They are available HERE and HERE.
IS YOUR MEMBERSHIP IN OUR NEIGHBORHOOD ASSOCIATION CURRENT?
Membership in Clairmont Heights Civic Association (CHCA) is open to anyone 18 years of age or older who own or reside within the CHCA boundaries. Membership is on a household basis and dues are $25. Our membership year runs from June to June.

How we use your Membership dues:

  • Neighborhood Improvements: We buy plants for neighborhood entrances and help fund additions to Melton Park. We provide grants for things like our annual Graduation Banners. We mow common areas when necessary.

  • Social gatherings: CHCA sponsors our neighborhood’s annual Halloween potluck and occasionally other cookouts and Family Movie Nights. We try to provide opportunities to meet your neighbors and have a good time.

  • Communications: The Association website, this monthly eNewsletter, and the neighborhood Facebook group are all mechanisms that we employ to share information about the community. With separate committees addressing traffic issues, zoning and development concerns, and schools, our Board learns about a wide variety of things that we share throughout the year.
