AIHP Announces Scholarships to 2020 Knowledge Sharing Summit & Marketplace
The Association of Independent Hospitality Professionals (AIHP) is pleased to announce an opportunity to assist aspiring and new innkeepers in their development and knowledge of the industry by awarding two scholarships to the 2020 AIHP Knowledge Sharing Summit and Marketplace in Albuquerque, New Mexico. These scholarships are given in honor of two long time members of our innkeeping industry who are no longer with us, D. Scott Bushnell and Michael D. Hanscom.

The  D Scott Bushnell Scholarship  will be awarded to an aspiring innkeeper, an individual who has not yet purchased an inn. The  Michael D. Hanscom Scholarship  will be awarded to an individual who has purchased a property within 18 months of conference. Both scholarships will pay the full Summit registration fee of recipients who demonstrate a strong interest in broadening and strengthening their level of understanding and knowledge of the innkeeping industry by attending conference.

Scott Bushnell with his wife Marilyn have been part of the innkeeping industry for 20 years, first as owners of the Lafayette Inn in Easton, PA and then as principals of Bushnell and Bushnell Services, an affiliate of the B&B Team, providing expert advice, education and services to aspiring and existing innkeepers. Scott was passionate about helping aspiring innkeepers to realize their dreams. As a West Point graduate, his dedication to supporting our military veterans was evident in all that he did.

Michael Hanscom with his wife Danielle spent 30 years creating the Brampton Inn in Chestertown, MD. Their vision was a place of unconditional hospitality, comfortable accommodations, peace and tranquility, and good food. Michael was a talented craftsman who had a real love of preservation and the restoration of historic buildings. He never stopped thinking about the well-being of Brampton guests, and his dedication is visible throughout the inn still today.
