Operations continued to run fairly smoothly today, with courses beginning to find a rhythm. None of us should take this achievement for granted— it’s due to the hard work each of you reading this is pouring into this effort! If you are stuck on any issue or problem, please reach out to supervisors, peers and support staff for assistance. Barring any significant new developments, look for your next update next week.

Automated proctoring is arriving!
As noted in an Academic Operations Bulletin you received earlier today, information and training webinars for Smarter Proctoring services began today, with 12 more sessions scheduled. This service, which will be accessible on Monday, March, 30, will serve all modalities of classes (online, hybrid, and on-ground). Please also keep in mind that the College will be paying $5 for each assessment administered through SmarterProctoring. We have moved money from other accounts (e.g., travel) cover this expense and will assess demand vs. available funding as we move forward.

Student rosters and contact information
In response to an OnPoint question yesterday, please find attached instructions for locating student contact information . This handout (and a number of other helpful handouts) is also available through this link . Shout out to the Faculty Academy team for putting this together! They are up for the challenge: Are there any other processes you need to see documented? Let us know.

Tracking “missing” students
A heads up: Next week we will be seeking to identify students who have neither reengaged courses nor contacted an instructor since classes resumed. Our aim in doing so is two-fold. First, from a student care perspective, we want to know who FSCJ should be reaching out to as an institution in support of the efforts you are making. Second, we need to begin to assess what to expect in terms of student appeals and the potential demand for class seats through the “Waiver to Repeat” process. In short, we have a collective need to get some insight into the question, “how are our students doing in this crisis?” More to come.

The 4 th  Annual Faculty Colloquium
The Academy for Teaching and Learning is excited to offer their first Virtual Faculty Colloquium ! After signing up through myFSCJ at least one day in advance of this April 3 rd event , you can simply attend from any computer. Like our work these past few weeks, the Colloquium will be as good as we make it. Please come to learn new things, support your peer organizers and presenters, and have collaborative fun in virtual learning environments!

We’re all it it together! (Musical reference intended)
People are amazingly resilient, and the camaraderie among higher ed professionals is a gift to us all. Gordon Bass, FSCJ’s Director of Security shared something today to spread some smiles and I hope you’ll take a look through this ling: Yes, we will survive! (Shout out to Dr. A for encouraging the share!)
