And "Happenings" is an understatement!
Welcome to September and we are beginning this fall season with a school FULL of activities. Jayne Henderson returns both Saturday and Sunday with a beginning inlay and advanced inlay class. Chad Johnson is making use of our new pottery studio and offering a slab building class on Saturday , ALWAYS room for one more! Watercolor and Letterpress open studios every Saturday with two Letterpress Workshops on the calendar. Barbara Sadler will be teaching an Indian Corn woven centerpiece on Sunday and in October she will offer a foot stool class. HendersonJAM begins on Monday! By request, Chad Johnson will teach a vase hand building workshop this Saturday, September 14th, with glazing on Saturday, September 28th. The pottery workshop participants will make three vases, each a different height.

Saturday, September 28th, 1:00p – 3:00p


Classes will consist of 4 sessions. The first 3 consecutive sessions will consist of working on the potter’s wheel and hand building methods including slab, coil, pinch and modeling. During the last session students will be glazing their own work. (Homeschooling? this is perfect!)

Dance The Salsa with Nellie
Join Nellie Hicks for this 4-week class and learn to "Salsa". Not only is it fun to learn, it is amazing exercise! Don't worry if you don't have a dance partner, come and have a great time learning to dance. Cost is $10 per lesson, please bring cash or check! Click here to RSVP
Junior Appalachian Musicians Begins

Parent Orientation at 5:30

Austin Tate has visited area schools and promoted our after school program. HendersonJAM is open to 4-8 grade students. Mountain Lynx will provide transportation from school to The Henderson. Parent will pick up students at The Henderson at 5:30. This year we will offer Fiddle, Guitar, Banjo, Upright Bass, AND Mandolin! We also have string band instruction for the more advanced students. Master Inlay Artisan (and Luthier extraordinaire) Jayne Henderson will teach an advanced inlay class here at The Henderson! This inlay course is designed for students with experience in woodworking and inlay.

Watercolor Classes
Saturday 10-1p

Join Catherine Schrenker on Saturdays from 10-1 for Open Studio Watercolor Class. Cost of the class is $10 and all supplies are included. There are also watercolor supplies for purchase in our Henderson Art Store.

Letterpress on Saturday
- EXPERIENCE REQUIRED-
1pm-5pm
Once you take a formal workshop you are free to sign up for "Open Studio" which is offered to those that are comfortable in the shop to work on their own projects on their own time.
Cost for "Open Studio" is $35 for all supplies and you can pay when you arrive.
Barn Quilt Painting Workshop 
Sat Sept 21st 1:30p - 7:30p
$65, all supplies are included

Join Tracy Thompson for a Barn Quilt Workshop that will give you an early start on Christmas gifts for your friends and family, or a treat for yourself!

Choose between making one 2 x 2 Barn Quilt or four 1 x 1 Barn Quilts. Indicate your preference when you RSVP. Bring a snack to share as it is a long day. Always a ton of fun!
