Monthly Chamber Newsletter - December

It's Thanksgiving Day Eve, and we are salivating for turkey, family and friends! We hope that all of you enjoy the long weekend filled with gratitude! As we head into the holiday season we want to share with you the importance of supporting your local businesses, the backbone of a thriving community. The Chamber has promoted small business for over sixty years, and the upcoming shopping season is a great time to show some love back to them.

10 Reasons to Shop Local

1. Shopping local creates jobs. Shops in our communities create local employment and self employment. These people in turn spend in the local economy!

2. Local independent shops invest more in our communities. Local businesses are proportionally more generous in their support of local charities, schools, and community events.

3. Local shops sell a wide range of great products at affordable prices. Many people get out of the habit of shopping locally and are then surprised by the range of products and gifts available.

4. Shopping local saves you money. Out of town shops have done a good job of convincing us all that local businesses =expensive. If you add travel, and your time, the overall cost is often much higher.

5. Shopping local retains our communities. People don’t like losing shops and services in
small towns, but don’t equate this to how they spend their money.

6. Shop Local retains our distinctiveness. Independent shops create distinctive shopping
experiences and stock different products. Local businesses respond more to the needs of local customers, stocking products to meet the changing population needs.

7. Shopping local saves the environment. Local shops stock a high percentage of local
sourced goods which do not require long car journeys, helping the global footprint.

8. Local shops are for everyone. Most people can get to their local shops easily and this
especially important for the elderly and young people with transportation issues.

9. Local shops value you more. Evidence from numerous surveys show people receive
better customer care and service locally. These businesses reputation and repeat business which means you get a higher standard of service.

10. Shopping local saves services. Private and public sector services cluster around shops. As shops disappear so do hairdressers, banks and restaurants. smart, shop local!

From our Chamber family to yours, Happy Thanksgiving!

Napier & Rollin, PLLC is a law firm founded with the purpose of applying the highest standards of integrity and professionalism to the practice of law. The attorneys of Napier & Rollin appear in Florida State Court for divorce, family law, and civil litigation matters in Indian River County and throughout the broader Treasure Coast and Space Coast. From time to time we also handle appeals within our trial-practice areas.

Our primary focus is divorce and family law. In that field we are one of very few firms, if not the only firm in Indian River County, that has two partners dedicated to representing clients in complex family law cases while supported by two highly experienced paralegals and an associate attorney. There is almost no case too large, complex or difficult for us to handle in the area of divorce or family law, including trial and appeals.

Napier & Rollin is able to efficiently deliver high quality legal services while also charging the most competitive rates in the industry. Napier & Rollin’s clients enjoy the flexibility of two locations. Our main office is located less than one mile east of the Indian River County Courthouse on State Road 60 in Vero Beach, Florida. We also maintain an office in Sebastian, Florida in the Sebastian Center just north of Wendy’s on U.S. 1.

Napier & Rollin’s mantra is “You can’t change the way the wind blows, but you can adjust your sails.” There is nothing in life that can be controlled except the choices one makes. Litigation is no different. A client might have had little control over the circumstances which led to the necessity of litigation, but individual choices will dramatically impact the direction and ultimate destination. This is why the attorneys of Napier & Rollin empower clients to make well informed decisions with purpose and direction; whether in a divorce, child-custody, or a civil litigation matter.

30th Annual Light Up Night
Friday, November 30th 5:30 - 8:00 PM

We’re kicking off the holiday shopping season with our local businesses! Mark your calendars for the 30 th Annual Light Up Night.
Light Up Night has become a favorite among many and is the perfect opportunity to introduce your business to the public, let them learn how to find you, see what you have to offer, and is a special way to show customer appreciation.

We look forward to sharing the holiday spirit with you and carrying on the Light Up Night tradition of encouraging the community to support our local businesses.

Monday November 26th

Some business owners might say their schedule is demanding enough at the moment, and the thought of adding one more activity to their busy calendar is unbearable.

So why should they try to cram time into their already hectic schedules to join and actively participate in the Sebastian River Area Chamber of Commerce “SRACC”?

Because membership in the “SRACC” offers numerous benefits and keeps business owners on top of important, ever-changing issues and trends within their community and local marketplace.

·            Membership brings credibility to your business
·          Increases your visibility in the community
·          Create networking opportunities

We are always looking for businesses in our area to join us here at the Sebastian River Area Chamber of Commerce. So if you know of a business who is not a member, please let us know and I will reach out to them; as a bonus, when they join, you will receive a free lunch at a Chamber luncheon as a thank you.

In October, the Mural Committee embarked on a field trip to South Florida to learn more about their Mural & Art in Public Places Programs. We met with the Public Art Program Manager for Coral Springs, and Pompano Beach and the Project Manager for the Downtown Hollywood Mural Project. We look forward to utilizing that information for our Public Mural District Plans for the Sebastian River Area! Stay tuned for more information!

Experience Old Florida Cuisine and History
Let us take you back in time to the pioneer days of Florida as you dine in our historic atmosphere. We will transport you to Florida’s boom and bust years of the 1920’s and 30’s, when folks lived off the land and were still settling the wild yonder!
Located in the beautifully restored Fellsmere Estates Building, Marsh Landing offers a truly unique dining experience. Frog legs, catfish and gator tail, fried green tomatoes and swamp cabbage are a few of the local specialties you can find at Marsh Landing. We also have hand-cut Angus steaks, ribs, fresh seafood dishes and homemade desserts.  There is something for everyone at Marsh Landing. Don’t forget breakfast. We open at 7am daily serving eggs, sweet potato pancakes and biscuits & gravy. We offer generous portions of all of our items cooked to order!
Good history, great food and southern hospitality, makes Marsh Landing worth the drive from anywhere!

Marsh Landing is owned and operated by mother and daughter team, Fran and Susan Adams. Fran Adams grew up in the restaurant business in Wilson, North Carolina, specializing in the local fare of fried chicken and barbeque. A Peace Corp volunteer in the early 70’s and an elected official for 12 years, Fran has spent her life in the service business. Susan Adams grew up in Fellsmere, enjoying the rural lifestyle of the area. After high school Susan attended FSU earning her law degree. The lure of restoring an old landmark and bringing the world to see brought Fran and Susan back to the restaurant business where they are working to preserve native Florida cuisine and culture and having a ball doing it!

To accommodate larger parties and meetings our banquet room seats 80 people. We offer buffet and platted menus for breakfast, lunch and dinner or let the Chef create a customized menu to suit the needs of your party. The Banquet room is available by reservation and we look forward to working with you to make your event a success!
We have two private dining rooms available by reservation. Our Rose room seats 8 people and our Sage room seats 14 people. Ideal for family gatherings, group meetings and small parties, let us make your Marsh Landing experience memorable!

We’re looking forward to your visit!
