2023 Major League Baseball All-Star Game


An update on the upcoming sporting event's attendance, schedule and neighborhood resources


In just over a month, Seattle will welcome tens of thousands of visitors for one of the biggest annual sporting events in the country: the 2023 Major League Baseball (MLB) All-Star Game. This email provides an update on the event's attendance levels and economic impacts, schedule, information on how to prepare your business for All-Star Week, and resources available for the Pioneer Square neighborhood.


More than 100,000 fans are expected to visit the city between July 7th and 11th, with event organizers anticipating sold-out crowds of over 47,000 fans at T-Mobile Park for both the Home Run Derby (July 10) and the All-Star Game (July 11). Over 100,000+ fans are expected at other events during the week, including Capital One PLAYBALL PARK at Lumen Field. Nearly all official MLB activations—both ticketed and unpaid—will take place within All-Star Village, one campus encompassing T-Mobile Park, Lumen Field and Event Center, and the North Lot. An estimated $50+ million is expected to be generated for the city between July 7-11.

To help businesses better prepare for the upcoming sporting event and understand it's impacts on operations, Visit Seattle has created the following resources:


  • Seattle Visitor Information for MLB All-Star Week. From event/activation schedules, to helpful resources as well as information on the host city, Visit Seattle has created a webpage to help visitors make the most of their time in Seattle. Whether you're looking for events happening in the All-Star Village or around town, nearby neighborhoods to explore, or transportation resources, this site has it all. Visit Seattle will continue to keep this page updated as new information becomes available.


  • Seattle B2B Event Guide Toolkit. Inside this event guide & toolkit, businesses can find a multitude of information ranging from the schedule of official events, how to prepare your business for All Star Week, and marketing assets, including social media graphics and post copy. Businesses are also encouraged to welcome All-Star fans by sharing information, shifting hours of operation, and offering baseball-themed events or specials.

Neighborhood Resources


In addition to the above, the Alliance for Pioneer Square and the Downtown Seattle Association are working to get the neighborhood ready though the following ways:


  • The Alliance for Pioneer Square has created a webpage for visitors during All-Star week featuring where to eat before the game, where to watch the game and where to find All-Star Week fun in Pioneer Square. We encourage neighborhood businesses to submit their events to our neighborhood calendar for increased visibility as well as tag us (@PioneerSquare) on Instagram and Facebook or send us a direct message to let us know where to find your event.


  • The Alliance for Pioneer Square also hosted a virtual Community Presentation on May 31 where representatives from Visit Seattle, the Downtown Seattle Association (DSA), and the Seattle Sports Commission presented on the City's planning, preparedness and event programming.   • Businesses are invited to join the Alliance on Wednesday June 21, 2023 from 9-10a for a technical assistance workshop to help prepare for the upcoming summer event season. RSVP here to attend.

 

  • The Downtown Seattle Association (DSA) is hosting a variety of events and activations in Occidental Square during All-Star Week, including a Downtown Summer Sounds concert on July 11th from 12-1:30p , A pop-up roller skating rink from July 8th to the 15th from 11a-6p, ‘80s and ‘90s arcade games and a DJ playing tunes in the park on July 8th and 9th from 10a, and a beer garden from July 8th to the 11th from 11a-6p.


Game Day Resources Reminder


  • Lumen Field's Transportation Management Plan (TMP) is designed to minimize the impact of parking and vehicle/pedestrian circulation on event days. If you experience issues with transportation management on event days, contact us at info@pioneersquare.org.


  • The Metropolitan Improvement District (MID) funded Clean Team is currently providing cleaning services during the following days/times: Monday-Friday 6:30 a.m-6 p.m.; Saturday-Sunday 7 a.m.-6 p.m. You can request service via phone at 206-441-3303 or submit a request online.


  • For in-progress criminal activity and emergency reporting, please call 911 and report what you have observed. Call (206) 625-5011 for non-emergency reporting. 


  • The "Find It, Fix It" app allows users to report selected issues to the City of Seattle, including abandoned vehicles, clogged storm drains, graffiti and illegal dumping. Once downloaded, report an issue in the app by submitting a photo with detailed information and using the map's "drag and drop" feature to pinpoint the location. For more information and a full list of service request categories, visit the city's customer service bureau website.
