The United Professional Horsemen’s Association (UPHA) held its virtual National Conference on January 11-15, 2021. The UPHA Classics Committee recommended and the UPHA Board approved to offer a UPHA Classics Hackney Pony Park Pleasure Driving class instead of the UPHA Classics Hackney Pony Pleasure Driving class. This change will be in effect for the 2021 competition year and will allow professionals to compete and hopefully increase entries. Shows are encouraged to update their prize lists to reflect this change.
Class specifications for this class will follow the USEF Hackney Division rules. In accordance with HK107.3, UPHA Classic classes are run under the same specifications as Federation Hackney Division rules. The UPHA Classics Hackney Pony Park Pleasure Driving class will be judged using the USEF class specifications for Single Hackney or Harness Pony Park Pleasure Driving Ponies Four years old or Under found in HK124.3.

3. SINGLE HACKNEY OR HARNESS PONY PARK PLEASURE DRIVING, PONIES FOUR YEARS OLD OR UNDER. To be shown at a flat walk, pleasure trot and road trot (showing a distinct difference in gait). The UPHA Classics are designed to be prestigious classes to contribute to the growth and prosperity of the show horse industry. The intent is to promote a high-caliber event and generate a greater prize money return for the young show horse/pony. Young performance entries have greater earning power and therefore can demand higher sales prices. Breeders, owners, and trainers all benefit from the UPHA Classics.
Shows are encouraged to add UPHA Classics classes to attract young horses/ponies to their competition. To request permission to offer a UPHA Classic class at your horse show, horse show managers, need to complete and return the application found below.
