Happy Friday!

Your UPK Team at Joint Initiatives would like to send out some quick reminders and clarifications, as follows:

CONTINUITY OF CARE ACCEPTANCE We previously stated that you would have the opportunity to accept or decline children who came through to you as Continuity of Care. This is incorrect. You ONLY have the opportunity to decline. If you do nothing, the child will be placed in one of the seats at the program that they chose when they came through to you. If the family chose the wrong program (one where you don’t have a seat for the child), please reach out to UPK@jointinitiatives.org so that we may unlock the application and have the family fix it.

CONTINUITY OF CARE TIMEFRAME

Families who have priority status (child currently attending, sibling currently attending, child of a current employee) have until 5:00 pm on March 28th to submit an application and be directly placed with their known provider. This is NOT first come, first served. If you do not have enough seats in the system to accommodate all of your priority children and want to add more, contact Noreen at nglt@mac.com. Otherwise, just be sure that your families with priority submit their 2024-25 application by March 28th.

CHILDREN WITH IEPs

Families with children who have IEPs (whether 3 or 4 years old) will NOT be able to select a particular location. Their application will go directly to the school district and the placement will be between the school district (or in the rural districts, Pikes Peak BOCES) and the family depending upon where you have a seat. Please do not tell families to choose a specific location; BridgeCare will not allow them to do that.

CHANGING PROGRAMS OR SEAT NUMBERS

Providers who need to change programs or increase seat numbers can contact Noreen at nglt@mac.com for assistance.

FAMILIES WITH ISSUES SUBMITTING/CHANGING APPLICATIONS

To make any changes to an application once it has been submitted, the family will need to contact UPK@jointinitiatives.org so that we can unlock their application to make the change. If the family is unable to make the change after the application has been unlocked, they should take screen shots of what they are seeing and send them to UPK@jointinitiatives.org so we can follow up and submit to the state, if necessary.

WHO TO CONTACT

  • Providers and school districts with inquiries or issues should directed these to Noreen at nglt@mac.com
  • Families who have questions can direct them to the Foundations Family Navigators by emailing UPK@jointinitiatives.org or by calling 719.828.1514 during business hours.

Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you need assistance.

FAMILY REMINDERS

IMPORTANT: Families only need to complete ONE UPK application per child for the 2024-25 year. If you need to make changes or are having trouble logging into your original application to make changes, please contact UPK@jointinitiatives.org. Do NOT create a second application.
