SENIORS:
Honoring the legacy and character of our nation’s 40th President, the GE-Reagan Foundation Scholarship Program rewards college-bound students who demonstrate exemplary leadership, drive, integrity, and citizenship with financial assistance to pursue higher education.

Each year, the Program selects numerous recipients to receive a $10,000 scholarship renewable for up to an additional three years – up to $40,000 total per recipient. Awards are for undergraduate study and may be used for education-related expenses, including tuition, fees, books, supplies, room, and board. In addition, Scholars are invited to participate in a special awards program and receive ongoing leadership-development support.

Class of 2020 College Guidance Updates

With the majority of Early Decision and Early Action college application deadlines
finally in the rearview mirror, the College Guidance Department collectively
congratulates the seniors for having completed this major milestone in the college
application process. The Class of 2020 is to be complimented on their engagement, industry and stamina in starting the school year, juggling activities and athletics all while visiting colleges, completing applications, writing, writing and more writing!

In our post-submission discussions, seniors have been reminded that monitoring of their emails and their application status portals is vital during the weeks and
months to come. If questions or concerns arise, these are ideal opportunities for
applicants to engage their admissions representatives.

October marked the highlight of the college rep travel season. Sacred Heart
Greenwich hosted admissions presentations from nearly 50 colleges and
universities. These valuable meetings are ideal opportunities for our seniors to
interface with the readers of their applications.

On October 23rd , we were fortunate to have current Notre Dame freshmen, Meredith Wilson ’19 and Erin Quigley ’19 return to King Street to chat with juniors and seniors about their transition to college and all things Notre Dame!
We extend our best wishes for all those seniors now awaiting admissions decisions towards the end of the year.
JUNIORS:
Junior College Guidance Updates

On October 16th the junior class took the PSAT-NMSQT exam. The College Board anticipates releasing test scores for the PSAT-NMSQT in early to mid-December. Students and families will receive additional information regarding
these score reports in the coming weeks. Results for the National Merit Scholarship Qualifying component are expected late August 2020.

PreACT results were mailed home for any Juniors who sat for this test. Please take the time to review the detailed analysis of test results using the brochure entitled “Using Your PreACT Results” which will help you to fully understand the results and projected success on the ACT in the future.

In college guidance classes the juniors are exploring the many uses and options
available in the Naviance platform. In the coming cycles they will be introduced to
the College Board and ACT websites and conduct college and career pathway
research.

Juniors have been reminded to stay fully engaged in their academics, activities and community service throughout the year.

PreACT RESULTS:
PreACT results were mailed home for any Sophomores who sat for this test. Please take the time to review the detailed analysis of test results using the brochure entitled “Using Your PreACT Results” which will help you to fully understand the results and projected success on the ACT in the future. The purpose of the PreACT is to give our students the opportunity to sample the ACT format and to enable them to compare it to their experience on the PSAT. This year, sophomores will take the PSAT-10 on April 20, 2020. Since the PSAT-10 is a test specifically developed for sophomores, it is believed to give the most accurate picture of how a student will do on the PSAT/NMSQT in the fall of their junior year. Sophomores will also be able to take the PreACT again as juniors in the fall of 2020 and will sit for the PSAT/NMSQT next October.
