Last fall, Rational, a supplier of industrial kitchen equipment, visited campus to film how we used their products in the HDC kitchens. The end result is a wonderful testimonial to Rational products and an interesting peek into our world.

Spider Dash logo

In cooperation with Human Resources and URWell, Dining Services is organizing the first Spider Dash 5k on March 25, 2023.


Supporting the university’s mission for health and well-being and its focus on belonging, the race will begin and end at the Heilman Dining Center. A brunch at HDC will follow the race and feature an awards ceremony along with signage that informs our guests about nutrition for active lifestyles and creative ways to build a balanced plate.

The Spider Dash 5k is open to all students, staff, faculty, and retirees. Dependents of staff, faculty, and retirees may also participate. Consider running or walking with us on March 25! Register here.

Sustainable Steps

To help meet the universities’ goal of carbon neutrality, we are committed to sustainability throughout our dining program.


We've recently shone a light on our efforts. In HDC, a new display highlights our sustainability initiatives. Posters about local vendors are also featured in this area.

New stickers were recently placed on all utensil and napkins dispensers in retail locations. But did you know that our Pepsi cups are also compostable? Look for the word compostable printed around the rim of the cup.


Offering compostable ware is only one part of the solution. In order to close the loop, please encourage your customers to use the recycling and composting bins whenever possible.

Tishelle Cosby, a line service associate for the Heilman Dining Center, won a 2022 Business Affairs Award for her dedication to her job, positively impacting her peers, and making students feel at home at UR.

Surprise pop-up food truck on the University Forum serving food students can not get anywhere else on campus!

Representatives from Dining Services will attend the NACUFS regional conference in mid-March.
