Indiana's water and wastewater utilities are facing an extremely serious situation following the severe storms and flooding that have impacted communities across our state.
AIRW is receiving reports from utilities dealing with significant flooding and infrastructure damage, including water and wastewater treatment facilities inundated by floodwaters. In some communities, conditions have become life-threatening, with emergency personnel conducting water rescues and responding to immediate threats to human life.
First and foremost, please prioritize the safety of your employees and your community.
AIRW's Circuit Rider team and other staff have been in direct contact with utilities across Indiana, helping assess needs, sharing resources, connecting systems with assistance and supporting emergency response efforts wherever we can.
Whether the need is large or small, we encourage you to reach out. Our team can help connect utilities with:
- Emergency technical assistance
- Pumps, generators and other equipment
- Operators or additional personnel
- Resources available from other utilities
- State, federal and emergency-response contacts
- Water and wastewater operational support
- Other immediate needs resulting from the storms or flooding
