URGENT CALL TO ACTION – WE NEED YOU TO SHOW UP
AT 2:20 TODAY!
At KC Shepherd's Center, part of our mission is to advocate for and empower seniors, ensuring their lives and voices are embedded in public policy and funding that affect their health and wellbeing.
We are proud members of the Jackson County Seniors Count Coalition and have been working tirelessly for a year and a half to lead a regional coalition of more than 50 agencies serving older adults to bring a stronger voice to public and philanthropic funders. We have led an effort to see older adults, who have been paying taxes to Jackson County for decades, longer than anyone else, to be included in the public funding that children, schools, libraries and others receive.
We are thrilled to announce that Jackson County Ordinance No. 5876, which will allow Jackson County voters to consider creating a Senior Services Fund, has been assigned to the Finance and Audit Committee. It is crucial that this measure passes, as it’s the deadline to make the November 5th, 2024 ballot. If this ordinance is approved TODAY, it will be referred to voters on the November 5th ballot, in accordance with state law.
We’ve been told that a room full of seniors makes a big difference to your legislators!
