October always feels like a reminder that change can be beautiful. The days get a little shorter, the air finally starts to cool (at least we hope so here in Arizona!), and suddenly pumpkins seem to appear everywhere. I find myself letting go, making room, and appreciating what’s right in front of me.

At Hushabye, we get to witness change every single day—sometimes in the tiniest of ways. A baby settling into a peaceful sleep. A mom finding confidence she didn’t know she had. A family taking one more step forward. As we head into this new season, I’m reminded how grateful I am for the people who make those moments possible. Thank you for being part of our Hushabye family and for continuing to believe that every baby and every family deserves the chance at a healthy start.

The countdown is officially on—just 24 days until our Twinkle Twinkle Little Star Gala! On November 7, we’ll come together for one of our favorite nights of the year to celebrate Hushabye’s babies, families, and the incredible community that makes this work possible.

This night is so much more than a gala. Every ticket purchased, table filled, auction item bid on, and gift made helps ensure that babies experiencing opioid withdrawal and their families have a place filled with compassion, hope, and healing.

What if every single dollar you gave went directly to a baby at Hushabye? Thanks to our friends at MED International, that's exactly what happens!

MED International has launched a giving campaign on Hushabye's behalf, and they're covering every cost behind it: the website, the processing fees, and the advertising. That means 100% of your gift reaches our babies and families.

For fourteen years, MED International has brought medical equipment and care to hospitals in Tanzania and orphanages in India. Now they're focusing on Hushabye Nursery. We're so honored!

At Hushabye Nursery, we believe every baby deserves a healthy start and every parent deserves to know they are not alone. For Heather and her son, Vegas, that promise has made all the difference.

When Vegas was born, he needed extra care. During those overwhelming early days, Heather found comfort in knowing the Hushabye team was there for both of them.

"They helped me when my son was first born with getting us through him being sick. If I was overwhelmed, they helped me with him 24/7. It was so nice to know I did not have to do that alone."

But what makes Heather's story so special is that Hushabye's support didn't end when Vegas went home.

From providing diapers, wipes, and formula to helping with transportation, WIC, and community resources, Hushabye continues to walk alongside their family. And when Heather simply needs someone to talk to, she knows there's someone who cares.

When asked what advice she hopes to give Vegas as he grows older, Heather's words reflect the strength and love she carries as his mother:

"Believe in yourself, and nothing can stop you from being the best you possible but you. Anything worth it isn't easy. Always keep your word. Be a man with integrity."

She also hopes he will always show kindness, protect those who are vulnerable, and treat others with respect.

Heather's dreams for Vegas remind us why our work matters. We're not just helping babies through their first days of life. We're helping families build brighter futures.

As Heather simply puts it, "It was absolutely amazing. They helped us so much. They have continued to help us."

Because at Hushabye Nursery, care doesn't end at discharge. Family is forever.

Joey has served parents and caregivers as a Peer Support Specialist and Case Manager at Hushabye for the last 4 years. He works tirelessly to provide dedicated support to our clients and families. He's always willing to go the extra mile for families and team members alike, demonstrating hustle, compassion, encouragement and humor in all his interactions.
