This Saturday … DO IT FOR LOVE …

Many years ago when we were invited to attend the National Congress on Qigong's National Symposium, the speaker who followed our speech about our vision of a World Tai Chi Day … was Master Li Junfeng.

Master Li stopped me in the hallway, on my way out of the plenary session room, following our speeches. He told me with all sincerity, "If you do this thing, create this world event, do it for love or don't do it at all."

BELOW IS OUR OPENING STATEMENT event organizers are free to read if they wish to open their events this Saturday. Click here to find it in several languages.

OPENING STATEMENT from WTCQD FOUNDERS

Dear World Tai Chi & Qigong Day Supporters & Participants,
This global wave of goodwill provides a vision of hope and healing to a world hungry for such visions. Each year to view the photos of people from different cultures, religions, and every corner of the earth . . . breathing together . . . in this global Tai Chi & Qigong movement . . . is profound.

When you look thru the photographs and videos you see that "look" on people's faces, a look that conveys a feeling that all of us who've experienced the well-being that Qi, or life energy, expands through our mind and body when we make the space to breathe . . . and to let, calm, and wellness expand thru us.

When you see that look in all these diverse faces, from so many different lands, you can't help but deeply realize that we are indeed "one world . . . and, . . . one breath."

We are all connected by the field of life energy that physicists are now discovering permeates all existence.

By immersing ourselves in the field of life energy again and again, we become more and more grounded in the absolute reality that . . . we are all connected . . . all part of the web of life. And, by cultivating and growing the realization personally and globally, we may help in a subtle quiet way to usher in a more elegant future that nurtures us all in ways we cannot yet even imagine.

Again, thank you for making this extraordinary event and health movement possible thru your organizing and participation each year.

Sincerely,

Bill Douglas & Angela Wong Douglas, Co-Founders of World Tai Chi & Qigong Day

Free tai chi event at Newcastle on Saturday
World Tai Chi & Qigong Day will be held on Saturday.

Amanda will mark the occasion with a free event at The Station in Newcastle at 10am.
"It's a celebration of the many healing benefits of these ancient arts," she said.
Tai chi is about the journey, not the destination.

"The reward is the doing, not the finishing," she said.

Regardless of experience or skill level, it offers the chance to "learn more and develop".
"I am constantly continuing my personal tai chi and qigong development," she said.

Over the past two decades, a special celebration of tai chi and qigong has quietly grown across the planet. Each year, on the “last Saturday of April,” in hundreds of cities in over 80 nations… World Tai Chi & Qigong Day events have been held in every time zone around the world. Starting at 10:00 am in the first time zone, and moving in a wave around the earth as 10:00 am reaches each new time zone, groups will gather to practice Tai Chi.

The Jing Ying Institute of Kung Fu & Tai Chi, a participant in this global event for nearly two decades, is pleased to announce that we will be celebrating World Tai Chi & Qigong Day this year on  Saturday, April 27, 2019 . The event will be held at  the Severna Park Community Center, under the trees beside the Holy Grounds building,  from  10:00am to 11:30am . If it rains, it will be held inside the building …

Tai Chi is believed to boost the immune system, slow the aging process, lower high blood pressure, relieve stress, and improve balance and coordination. Harvard Medical School has stated that tai chi is one of the 5 “best exercises you can ever do.” Jing Ying Institute hopes to spread information about the incredible health benefits to as many people as possible

14 Notable Pilot Projects Among Research Efforts Funded by National MS Society

… One former pilot grant awardee, Andrew Steelman, PhD, an assistant professor at the  University of Illinois , recently published with colleagues their findings in the journal  Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences . In their study, “ Influenza infection triggers disease in a genetic model of experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis ,” they explored how upper respiratory tract infections caused by common cold or flu viruses may be linked to MS relapses.

The team used the award to study how upper respiratory infection could modify the activity of brain cells ...

WorldTaiChiDay.org COMMENT:
The above MS research article singles out "balance" improvement as being why Tai Chi is beneficial to those dealing with MS … HOWEVER, as you see above, issues of respiratory infections and brain function are relevant, and research shows that Tai Chi and Qigong practice can profoundly enhance immune function (raising Helper T-Cell counts from 50% to 100% in Tai Chi practitioners); and that Tai Chi can treat COPD effectively, and improve Brain Function .

We applaud the above research, but grow increasingly frustrated when in studies "one quality of Tai Chi" is singled out, and the myriad holistic multi-dimensional benefits fail to be considered in research.

Which gives a very limited … and in reality a false impression of the extraordinarily multi-dimensional benefits of Tai Chi and Qigong.
