The Governor and legislative leaders are in the final stages of negotiations for the 2021-22 budget and are making decisions about allocating a record-setting $100 billion. There are some good indications about funding for farmworker housing and sustainable agriculture, but many details remain to be worked out.

Formed during the height of the pandemic, a diverse coalition has come together to advocate for once-in-a-generation investments in California’s food and farming system. Early in 2021, we sponsored Assembly Bill 125, authored by Assemblymember Robert Rivas, which proposed a $3.2 billion bond measure for the November 2022 ballot.
