URGENT ACTION REQUIRED!
STOP H.RES.296
|
Dear Assembly Members and Friends,
The Armenian public advocacy machine is once again throwing their efforts and money into an attempt to persuade political leaders in the United States to recognize the WWI tragedy of the Ottoman Armenians as genocide.
On Monday, October 28,
H.RES.296, introduced by California Representative
Adam B. Schiff (D CA-28) on April 8, 2019, "
Affirming the United States record on the Armenian Genocide" will go to
mark-up in
the Rules Committee of the US House of Representatives. Historically, Congress has refused the bullying of the Armenian Diaspora and has recommended further research and reconciliation in recent years.
Assembly of Turkish American Associations (ATAA) calls on the Turkish American community and all friends of Turkey to write to the members of the
House Rules Committee and urge them not to legislate a historical, legal and social issue, which should be resolved through rigorous academic research rather than parliamentary action. Inaction on the part of the Turkish American Community will encourage more acts of harassment, violence and terrorism against people of Turks and Turkic descent, and could potentially lead to territorial and compensation claims against the Republic of Turkey.
Attached to this e-mail, please find
sample letters that can be sent to members of the House Committee on Rules. The letter provides a brief Turkish perspective on the matter and urges leaders to refrain from making legal and historical pronouncements. If you agree with the contents of the letter, please:
1) Insert the name of the House Committee on Rules Member you are writing to,
2) Sign the letter and fax or
e-mail it immediately.
Below please find a list of the
members of the House Rules Committee and their contact information.
Due to URGENCY of the matter, FAXING or E-MAILING are the only ways you can be assured that this message will reach members of the House Rules Committee, in time to make a difference. Following up with a phone call is also very effective.
As a reminder, this is in no way an anti-Armenian campaign. Armenian people's view in this matter is held hostage by the agenda of extremists in the Armenian diaspora in the U.S.. We have only two choices: we can be passive and allow these allegations to go on, or we can stand up and defend ourselves, our history, and the future of our children here in the United States. ATAA urges you to choose the latter.
