News, Updates, & Opportunities from URI Hillel

Campus Climate

URI Hillel is working closely with the administration to increase education around antisemitism and make sure procedures are in place should any incidents arise. We’ve scheduled a meeting on February 28 for Jewish students to meet with the Vice President of Student Affairs, Ellen Reynolds, and the Dean of Students, Dan Graney, so they can hear first-hand about the experience of Jewish students on campus, and share resources available to students including the Bias Resource Team.

Hillel Executive Director, Amy Olson will be offering two sessions on antisemitism education for the URI’s Diversity Badge Program for graduate students in the coming weeks. We are hoping to provide a form of this training in the near future for Resident Assistants and Orientation Leaders.

URI’s new Vice President of Community, Equity, and Diversity, Markeisha Miner, began her post on January 2. She met at Hillel with Amy Olson on January 16 and she participated in Hillel’s Tu Bishvat Seder on January 24.
