TRAFFIC ALERT: WEEKEND INTERSECTION IMPACTS

Dates:

  • Friday, August 23 at 8 p.m. to Monday, August 26 at 6 a.m.**

Details:

  • We will be working in the center lanes of the Expressway Lane/800 North Intersection on US-6. Traffic will be in a temporary traffic configuration with two lanes eastbound and a single lane westbound at the intersection of Expressway Lane/800 North. NO CROSS TRAFFIC from side streets will be allowed.
  • Lane closures will be in place around the clock from Friday, August 23 at 8 p.m. through Monday, August 26 at 6 a.m.**
  • Expect major delays.
  • PLEASE FOLLOW POSTED DETOURS

**The specified pavement thickness is 12". Before the intersection can be opened, the asphalt pavement must cool down. Due to the thickness of the pavement section, opening may be delayed.

We will be applying water to the new asphalt during the day on Sunday to help cool the pavement to acceptable temperature. Water will be present on the open lanes of traffic.

  • Grading and preparations are underway for the new asphalt trail along the eastbound side of the road.
  • Crews continue work along the westbound outside shoulder of US-6 between Center Street and I-15. Due to the narrow construction zone, crews will close one westbound lane of traffic nightly to perform their work.

Schedule

  • Nightly work Sunday through Thursday from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. NOTE: Most work will be done at night to reduce traffic jams, however, daytime work not impacting traffic will take place, except when the bridge deck repairs begin at 400 North.

Traffic Impacts

  • US-6 traffic will be reduced to a single westbound lane and two eastbound lanes Friday, August 23 at 8 p.m. through Monday, August 26 at 6 a.m.
  • The trail along US-6 is closed for the duration of the project. Trail users may encounter other temporary closures of sidewalks in the area. Please follow the indicated detours for your safety. Accessibility under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) will be maintained.
  • Business access will remain open.

Enhancements include:

  • Implementing dual left turns at Expressway Lane and Canyon Creek Parkway.
  • Adding a third eastbound lane, extending to the east of Expressway Lane.
  • Installing new asphalt paving from I-15 to the mouth of Spanish Fork Canyon.
  • Relocating the trail on the south side of US-6.

These improvements are designed to enhance traffic flow, safety, and overall connectivity in the area.
