U.S. manufacturing production near three-year high in November
|
|
Production at U.S. factories increased to its highest level in nearly three years in November as output rose across the board, providing a powerful boost to the economy as the year ends. The manufacturing output index climbed 0.7% last month to 100.6, the highest level since January 2019, the Federal Reserve said on Thursday. That followed a 1.4% rebound in October. Economists polled by Reuters had forecast factory production rising 0.7%. Output increased 4.6% compared to November 2020.

Oracle takes a big move toward health with a deal to buy Cerner for $28.3 billion

Oracle said on Monday, December 20, 2021 that it had agreed to pay $28.3 billion for Cerner, a large electronic health records vendor. The deal is the largest-ever acquisition by Oracle, a database giant, and a sign that some major technology companies see health care as a growth opportunity.

Meta aims for ‘deep compatibility’ with blockchain, according to an internal post

Meta, Facebook’s parent company, is aiming for “deep compatibility” with blockchain technology, according to an internal post on Tuesday, December 21, 2021 from a top executive. In the note to employees, which was obtained by The New York Times, Andrew Bosworth, who will become Meta’s chief technology officer become next year, laid out a vision for the social network company to adopt and work with various blockchain or cryptocurrency technologies that have collectively become known as web3.

Amazon Reaches Labor Deal, Giving Workers More Power to Organize

Amazon, which faces mounting scrutiny over worker rights, agreed to let its warehouse employees more easily organize in the workplace as part of a nationwide settlement with the National Labor Relations Board this month.
