Dear USA Contingent IST Members:
First and most importantly, thank you for your service to the 25th World Scout Jamboree. You have done your best to make this a memorable experience for the thousands of Scout attendees from all around the world. We are grateful for your service.
As you know WOSM has announced that they will evacuate the World Jamboree site tomorrow (Tuesday, August 8), in anticipation of Typhoon Khanun.
WOSM has asked that all ISTs remain on site to assist with the evacuation of our fellow Jamboree participants. We are hopeful that you will honor this request to support the evacuation of our fellow Scouts.
We will arrange transportation for all that remain on site for the evacuation. This transportation will pick up our IST members at 3:00 PM tomorrow (Tuesday, August 8). You will need to have all of your personal gear and be at the USA Contingent IST site loading area ready to go at 3:00 PM.
The busses will drop off at these two locations:
1. Central Seoul
2. Inchon Airport
From those locations you will be able to find accommodations or change flight schedules. Please understand that you are responsible for arranging your own accommodation and transportation from the time we leave you at your drop off location until your flight home.
Please know the final evacuation plan has not been released by the Korean Government and may include accommodation for ISTs.
We are preparing a list of potential accommodations in the Seoul area that may be helpful. This will be sent in a follow up email.
Again, thank you! We know this was not the experience you expected, but it will be one that you can talk about when we attend the next Jamboree in Poland and all the Jamborees to follow.
