Save the Dates

Save the Date, Part 1: Gear Up!, Bicycle Colorado’s annual fundraiser, will be held June 1 at 6 p.m. at the McNichols Civic Center Building in Denver. The event supports BC’s efforts to build bike infrastructure, pass laws to improve safety and educate drivers for improved behavior around bikes. Gear Up! features an online silent auction, a live auction, great food and tremendous networking within the Colorado cycling community. We are happily accepting donations—restaurants, bodywork, cycling items—for the auctions. Please email Chris at chris.m@bicyclecolorado.org with your auction items and join us for a fun and important evening!

Save the Date(s), Part 2: This summer, the Downtown Denver Partnership is rolling out ¡Viva! Streets Denver, an open street-style event series that will transform 3.5 miles of Broadway and Welton Street into a completely car-free space where people can walk, bike, roll or skate safely. The first of the series is on Sunday, May 14. This is an exciting series that will help show people what car-free streets can really be like, but people power is needed to make this happen—over 200 volunteers are needed for each event day. Find a few friends and sign up to help out on May 14 and the rest of the series on June 4, July 9 and August 6!

Ongoing Topics

New Digital Platform

We are currently constructing a new digital platform to replace the old BRAC website. This new site will have a new comprehensive calendar, will hold and display results, calculate Cup points and serve as a club management tool. Until the platform is released, the best place to find results is USA Cycling. Cup points earned prior to the platform’s release will be counted for the 2023 Rocky Mountain Road Cup.

2023 Racing for Road and Cross

2023 racing will include a road season in coordination with the Rocky Mountain Collegiate Cycling Conference and the traditional Rocky Mountain Road Cup. Cup points will be available at most road events in 2023. Cup points earned prior to release of the new digital platform will be counted for the 2023 Rocky Mountain Road Cup.

2023 will include a cyclocross racing season with the traditional Colorado Cross Cup and State Championships. We will confirm the calendar, State Championships and race groups in the next month.

Paired Membership Model with USAC

We are very pleased to announce a new, reimagined membership relationship between Bicycle Colorado (which in 2023 is serving as the Local Association in Colorado) and USA Cycling. For 2023, this paired membership model includes a Racing Membership with Bicycle Colorado ($40 value) with your purchase of a RACE Membership from USA Cycling!

What do you need to do?

Go to USA Cycling to purchase your 2023 RACE Membership. USAC will share this information with Bicycle Colorado, including current memberships that were purchased in 2022. In the next few weeks, Bicycle Colorado will send you an email to activate your user account. Once you are confirmed in our new membership database, you’ll be included in Bicycle Colorado communication, offers and programs including our season-long Cup points competitions.

Communications

Please share this update with your friends and teammates. They can subscribe to future emails using this link.

Thank you for your continued support of cycling in Colorado during this time of transition. We greatly appreciate your commitment and patience as we finalize the details and build a new digital platform to support our cycling community. We look forward to seeing you at incredible cycling events in 2023!

Yours in cycling,

The Team at Bicycle Colorado
