Dear Upper School Families,

We are getting close to the start of the school year. I wanted to share with you the details of our orientation plan.

I apologize for sending this to you only now, but we had to be thoughtful about the planning and we also wanted to know the exact number of students who will be doing the hybrid plan and the full remote plan.
You can find the schedule for the orientation week from Tuesday, September 8 to Friday, September 11 on the Upper School Expanded Learning Experience page.

Our program will focus on navigating the building, getting to know the school, one’s advisory, grade, classes, and schedule. Here are the highlights:
The first half of the week, orientation is on campus. Students are split up by group and by grade:
Tuesday, September 8
Group 1 is on campus

  • 9:00–11:30 a.m. 9th and 10th grade students in Group 1.
  • 12:30–3:00 p.m. 11th and 12th grade students in Group 1.
Wednesday, September 9 Group 2 is on campus

  • 9:00–11:30 a.m. 9th and 10th grade students in Group 2
  • 12:30–3:00 p.m. 11th and 12th grade students in Group 2.
The second half of the week, orientation is online for everyone:
Thursday, September 10
All students are on online

  • 9–11:30 a.m.
  • In the afternoon, all new students will have a chance to connect with their BVR Connects partners virtually.

Friday, September 11*
All students are on online

  • 9–11:00 a.m.
* On Friday, from 12–5 p.m., Parent/Guardian-Student-Advisor conferences will take place virtually. We ask that new students attend the conferences. Returning students are strongly encouraged to attend but it is not mandatory. Advisors will reach out to schedule the conferences and you, families, will choose what time works best for you.
And if you haven't done so already, please let us know by today if your student is attending our hybrid program or if they will follow remotely throughout the week. Click here to fill out the preference form.

Please note that even if you have chosen the full remote plan, your student may still attend the on-campus part of orientation.

If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to Jimmy Manyuru, Director of Student Life and Equity and Elisha Cho, Assistant Director of Student Life and Equity. We look forward to getting started and connecting with our students.
Thank you.
