Records of the American Association of University Women of Mobile

The Mobile chapter of the American Association of University Women organized in 1936 with twenty-six original members. The group engaged in various civil projects in the city and took an active interest in state and national issues like equal property taxation in Alabama, opposition to the Equal Rights Amendment, politics, women’s issues, environmental issues, and many others. The chapter also sponsored cultural and community events. Materials date between 1936-2005 and include minutes, financial records, correspondence, and printed material from the Mobile chapter. Voter Registration Drive 2024

Marx Library’s Student Engagement Committee held its annual Voter Registration Drive for National Voter Registration Day on Tuesday, September 17th. Students were invited to register to vote, check their registration status, and/or ask any questions they might have about the

registration process. Also available at the table were pocket Constitutions for Constitution Day, buttons/stickers, and handouts to a 2024 Presidential Quiz. Committee representatives were able to engage with 55 students during the in-person drive. While registration numbers were lower than last year, this was largely due to an increase in students having already been registered! QR codes to relevant voter resources will continue to be available throughout the library through the month of October.
