Daybreak Racing to Host Three

Oregon Association Trail Championships!

USATF Oregon Association is pleased to announce that Daybreak Racing will be hosting the USATF Oregon 8K Youth Trail Championship and the USATF Oregon Half Marathon Open & Masters Trail Championships.

The championship events will be held in conjunction with the Wy’east Trailfest on August 15-16 at the Mt Hood Meadows ski resort on Mt. Hood. Daybreak Racing conducts the annual Wy'east Trailfest mountain trail series of races.

The three Association championship events take place on Sunday, August 16 and offer scenic, single loop courses featuring Mt. Hood’s outstanding alpine terrain. These races are within the Mt. Hood National Forest.

The 8K youth trail race is for athletes ages 7 to 18. The Half Marathon Open race is for athletes 19 to 39, and the Masters division is anyone age 40 and older. The 8K race is part of the USATF Mountain, Ultra, Trail Running Youth Initiative. This is a program, in cooperation with the American Trail Running Association (ATRA), designed to increase kids participation in trail races.

"The Daybreak team and I are proud to host these Trail Championships for USATF Oregon Association members. The Wy'east Trailfest event offers a fantastic venue and challenging mountain courses on some of Mt. Hood's most famous and iconic terrain," Jeremy Long, Daybreak founder and race director, said.

"We at USA Track & Field Oregon are thrilled to partner with Daybreak Racing to bring Mountain Ultra Trail (MUT) racing to Oregon at a true championship level—elevating the athlete experience, showcasing our state’s world-class terrain, and setting a new standard for competitive trail running in the Pacific Northwest,” Lynn Brown, USATF Oregon President, commented.

These are USATF Sanctioned events. Association awards will be presented to the top 3 boys and girls in the 8K and top 3 overall Open and Masters men and women in the half marathon. Masters age group awards will also be presented.

"USATF Oregon is honored to work with Daybreak Racing to host the Open and Masters Half Marathon Trail Championships and the first Association Youth Trail Championship race at Mt Hood Meadows. These events fill up quickly so renew your 2026 membership if you haven’t done so and register for your event soon!," Mike Blackmore, USATF Oregon Mountain, Ultra, and Trail Committee Chair, commented.

Wy'east Trailfest is a celebration of mountain trail running featuring Mt. Hood’s wildly beautiful, dynamic, and challenging mountain courses that reach Oregon’s alpine rooftop at 8,000 feet. Wy'east is the native ancestral name for Mt. Hood.
