During the Utah State Board of Education Law & Licensing Committee Meeting last Friday, Board Members discussed the explicit content that is currently in libraries across the state.
The Utah State Board of Education will take up a rule in January regarding explicit content in school libraries, however that leaves pornography in schools until they can develop and implement said policy.
What can you do now?
1.Contact your child's principal and express your concerns about the explicit content being found in schools across the state.
2.Contact your local school board and explain what you've found in your child's school.
3.Email your USBE representative and explain We need a policy that gets these books out of schools!
4.Email your House Representative and Senator and explain what's happening with explicit content in schools. Tell them you do not want your child exposed to that kind of material and you want your money back, so you can send your child to a school that takes these concerns seriously.
5.Join the Facebook Group, LaVerna in the Library to see what has been found in Utah Public Schools across the state.
