Winter Break - A Time for Relaxation
and Conversation
Senior psychology major, Nikia Franklin, prepares for finals week in the festive Student Life office.
Its finals week, and students are studying and working on papers and final presentations. At the same time, they're thinking about holiday activities and being home.

Sometime during break, you may want to set up a lunch date or arrange another way of giving your student individualized attention. Let him or her reflect on what went well during the fall semester and what may need some improvement moving forward. Express interest in spring activities and coursework. Your student will appreciate your attention and support.

Happy holidays!

Extended Library Hours During Finals Week
To accommodate student demand for extended library hours, the Gregg-Graniteville Library is open 24 hours per day during finals week.

The library will resume normal operating hours next semester.

Best wishes to students as they complete fall term!
Happy Holidays From the USC Aiken Family!

Internships and Jobs at the Career Fair

All students, regardless of academic year or major, should start preparing for USC Aiken's Career Fair.

The fair will be held on Wednesday, February 20, from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m., in the Student Activities Center. Employers from a variety of career fields appreciate all students who show an interest in their organizations, and are generally happy to inform them about career opportunities. In addition, graduate school representatives will be available to discuss post-graduate educational opportunities.

Students can prepare by:
  1. Creating a resume and having it reviewed at the Office of Career Services (Penland 108)
  2. Shopping for professional clothing or making an appointment to borrow from USC Aiken's Career Closet
  3. Practicing how to answer employer questions with our “Big Interview” software. (Students will need to log in.)

Help your student get ready for the future by getting ready for the Career Fair today!
New and Transfer Student Orientation on January 10
New and transfer students are required to attend an orientation. The next session is January 10. Parents and families or guests are welcome and encouraged to attend. Students and their guests have separate programs throughout the day. Registration is required, and lunch is included.

Students who already attended the orientation in November are not required to attend January's program.

Welcome to our new Pacers and their families!
Financial Aid and Tuition Payments:
Two separate issues
We want to help your student (and you) navigate two separate topics:

  1. Students with concerns about ways to pay for college should click here or contact the Financial Aid office in the Penland Building during their business hours.
  2. Students with concerns about the USC Aiken process to pay their tuition bills should click here or contact the Business Office in the Penland Building during their business hours.

Keeping Students Healthy 4 Life
Health and well-being include understanding that as humans we are a whole person. Our minds influence our bodies, which influence our decisions, which impact our overall health. This month we will focus on resources that help us have a healthy mind.
College is often a time when individuals are first faced with managing stressful events on their own. Learning how to relieve stress in healthy ways is key to being resilient. Being physically active , engaging in meaningful activities across campus and, if needed, talking with a counselor to help process and solve problems are all nurturing activities for a healthy mind.
Academic success is our goal for every student at USC Aiken, and there are times that taking advantage of resources for specific classes is key to that success. The Math Lab , Writing Room and l ibrary are excellent places to look for a coach, a tutor, or assistance with research for that final paper.
Finally, nourishing your body with healthy food as we approach final exams can improve sleep patterns, regulate blood sugar, and provide the mind with fuel to finish the semester strong.
Be Well and Be Healthy 4 Life!
Free Flu Shots Continue While Supplies Last!
Current USC Aiken students can bring their university IDs and get a free flu shot at the Student Health Center (SHC), SAC Room 106, near Starbucks. The SHC opens at 10 a.m., and accepts the last patient at 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. The best time to get the shot is from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. No appointment necessary.

Let’s keep our Pacers healthy!
