Max and Jeanne Gonzenbach gather with scholarship recipients and USD faculty and staff.
Greetings,
During the month of November, those of us in the School of Education were humbled to witness outstanding accomplishments by our faculty and students while also honoring those who make that success possible.
Last week, the School of Education presented Jeanne and Max Gonzenbach with the EDGE Award, which recognizes excellence, dedication, generosity and empowerment. Jeanne and Max Gonzenbach graciously and selflessly support teacher education students through their
scholarship endowment
. School of Education graduates Randi Johnson and Alanna Schmeichel, as well as current students Samantha Hyronimus and Morgan McAllister, gathered with us to celebrate their accomplishments and honor Jeanne and Max's incredible gifts. The laughter and tears over lunch served as a reminder that donations are not merely numbers in bank accounts — they are heartfelt gifts that impact students in very tangible ways.
By reading our newsletter and staying in touch, you too are supporting the School of Education, and we are thankful for you.

KSM Students Manage SDHS Football Championship
31 students in KSM 450: Sport Facility & Event Management had the opportunity to apply their studies to a major event by managing and coordinating the South Dakota High School Football Championships. South Dakota is the only state in the United States that allows the final game of their state tournament to be managed by students, thus providing USD students with an exceptional and rare opportunity to manage such a well-attended event. Please join us in congratulating the kinesiology and sport management students on their hard work and successful outcome!
