Hispanic-Serving Institutions Education Grants Program - USDA-NIFA-HSI-006951

The purpose of the HSI Education Grants Program is to encourage innovative teaching or education proposals with potential to impact and become models for other institutions that serve underrepresented students, at the regional or national level. Projects supported by this program:

  1. Attract and support undergraduate and graduate students from underrepresented groups in order to prepare them for careers related to the food, agriculture, natural resources and human (FANH) sciences in the United States.
  2. Enhance the quality of postsecondary instruction within the above disciplines.
  3. Provide opportunities and access to FANH careers in the public and private sector.
  4. Align the efforts of HSIs and other non-profit organizations to support academic development and career attainment of underrepresented groups.

Limited Submission
UNLV is limited to TWO Collaboration applications and TWO Conference applications. There is no limit on the number of regular applications.

Highlights
Project Types: The HSI grant program will only accept Education/Teaching projects.

Grant Types:
  1. Regular grant - support targeted, original, scientific Education/Teaching projects. Funded at $250,000 total for a period of four years.
  2. Collaboration grant - two or more HSIs forming a linkage arrangement for the purpose of carrying out common objective(s) on the group's behalf. Funded at $1,000,000 total for a period of four years.
  3. Conference grant - support scientific meetings that bring together educators to identify research, education/teaching, and/or extensions needs, update information, or advance an area of education/teaching. Not to exceed $50,000 for up to two years.

Eligibility : Applications may only be submitted by Hispanic-Serving Institutions (HSI). UNLV is a HSI.
