Everyone was certain Dr. Michelle Crozier would grow up to be a veterinarian. After all, Crozier, who grew up in Deland, Fla., and attended Stetson University, raised Belted Galloway cattle and even once won a cow in an essay contest. But everyone was wrong.

Gene Felber is honored with Outstanding Alumni Award

Dr. Gene Felber is a Bull three times over. He received his bachelor’s from the university in 1991, his MSPH in epidemiology and biostatistics from the COPH in 1993 and his PhD in epidemiology five years later.

Dawn Hunter’s first exposure to public health came when she worked as a research assistant in the Advanced Biosensors Laboratory at USF’s Center for Biological Defense.

Frank Yiannas receives Outstanding Alumni Award

Frank Yiannas has devoted his career to protecting consumers from deadly bacteria and pathogens. It’s a career that started in 1987 when the newly minted University of Central Florida grad took his BS in microbiology and began working on product safety in the private sector.

In memory of Samuel P. Bell, III


In 1984, Florida Legislator Samuel P. Bell proposed a bill that would go on to establish the USF College of Public as the first college of public health in the State of Florida. Bell, father of the USF College of Public Health and overall champion of USF, died March 14 at the age of 83.

Mitchell Jaskela, MPH, CPH, is an emergency response specialist with the CDC Foundation.

 

Cindy Jean-Baptiste, DrPH, MA, MPH, CPH, is a public health analyst with the U.S. Air Force and an adjunct faculty member with the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences.


Rudith (Laine) Vice, MPH, is a public health analyst with the CDC National Center for Emerging & Zoonotic Infectious Diseases in Atlanta.


Kayla Wilson, MPH, has been accepted into the CDC’s Public Health Associate Program. She is based at the Florida Department of Health in Manatee County.
