National Public Health Week offers a variety of in-person and virtual events

Partnership growth in Panama

A team of USF Health professors representing the USF Genomics and Internal Medicine-Infectious Disease traveled to Panama in February. The delegation was focused on strengthening existing Panamanian partnerships, discovering new programs and visiting local health institutions, while providing a forum for the USF faculty to share current research projects.

USF Health Research Day showcases strong research and collaboration

Another record for USF Health Research Day, the largest research-oriented event of its kind at USF and the largest celebration of health sciences research collaboration.

Accolades

COPH faculty members winners of ATMCH Innovative Teaching Award

Three COPH faculty were the recipients of the annual Association of Teachers of Maternal and Child Health (ATMCH) Innovative Teaching Award. The team of winners which included Drs. Vickie Dugat, Abraham Salinas-Miranda and Cheryl Vamos, were announced in January.

Grads Made Good

Transitioning careers: One alum’s path from microbiology to public health

Originally from Cleveland, COPH alumna Tracey Rummel moved to San Diego before eventually settling in Tampa, Fla. There, Rummel was introduced to public health through her 20-year career in microbiology.

Students, faculty and executives share their experiences with a project at Suncoast Community Health Centers, Inc., a non-profit, federally qualified health center based in eastern and southern Hillsborough County, Florida.
