The Midwest Center for Occupational Health and Safety awarded DrPH student Kelli Maddock with a $20k grant to explore “Whole genome sequence analysis of Staphylococcus aureus, Staphylococcus pseudintermedius, and Group B Streptococcus isolated from veterinarians and veterinary technicians in the upper Midwest."

Epidemiology is a fundamental science of public health, defined as the study of the distribution and determinants of disease and disability in populations. Although epidemiology is historically rooted in the study of the causes of infectious diseases (epidemics), epidemiology now encompasses the study of the full gamut of conditions that impact the health and well-being of people, families and their communities.
