The University of South Florida St. Petersburg (USFSP) and Duke Energy invite you to attend the inaugural event of the Joint Institute for the Gulf of Mexico Studies:
An evening talk with Pulitzer Prize-winning author, historian and USFSP alum Jack Davis. Davis will speak on the current environmental challenges afflicting the Gulf of Mexico, the region’s unique geology and history and share stories from his book "The Gulf: The Making of an American Sea.”

The Joint Institute brings together academia, government and industry to collaborate on joint research, disaster responses, economic development and the integration of marine and life sciences for the Gulf of Mexico.

WUSF Public Media's Florida Matters program will premiere three short documentaries and
host a town hall discussion
on what works when it comes to veterans returning home as they transition to civilian life. These documentaries are part of the national Veterans Coming Home campaign, which explores success stories, what makes coming home easier and the challenges veterans face returning to civilian life.

The Nelson Poynter Memorial Library is hosting Dr. Raymond Arsenault, the John Hope Franklin Professor of Southern History at USFSP, to speak on his new book "Arthur Ashe: A Life."
This is the first comprehensive biography of the tennis legend and civil rights icon, which charts Ashe's transformation from a shy African-American boy from segregated Virginia to a cosmopolitan figure who transformed the world of sports and activism.
