USHJA Zones 7 and 8 Children's and Adult Amateur Jumper Championships Kick Off


Parker, Colo. -----    September 8, 2016 -----    The United States Hunter Jumper Association is excited to announce the participants who are competing in the 2016 USHJA Zones 7 and 8 Children's and Adult Amateur Jumper Championships, which begin today and run through Sunday at Colorado Fall Preview.

The Children's and Adult Amateur Jumper Championships will take place over the course of four days. The first day will consist of the horse inspection, and t he second day will feature the individual qualifying class, one round that will give riders a base score.
The third day of competition will be the Team Championships and will consist of two jumping rounds held in a Nation's Cup-style format. Scores from both rounds will also count toward individual standings as the second and third individual qualifying classes, respectively.
The final day of competition will be the Individual Championships, held over one round. The top 20 horse-and-rider combinations with the lowest cumulative scores from the first, second and third individual qualifying classes will move forward to the Individual Championships.  
Individual Champions will receive  Professional's Choice boots, a cooler, a ribbon and a medal. The individual Children's gold medalist will also receive a spot at their choice of a USHJA Emerging Athletes Program Regional Training Session, presented by  Dover Saddlery.
Zone 7 did not field any teams or individual competitors for the Championships. 

The Zones 5 and 6 Jumper Championships were held August 10-14 at Showplace End of Summer in Roscoe, Ill.; Zones 3 and 4 were held August 26-28 at HITS Constitution Classic in Culpeper, Va.; Zones 1 and 2 were held August 31-September 4 at HITS on the Hudson in Saugerties, N.Y.; Zones 9 and 10 will be September 14-18 at Blenheim Fall Tournament in San Juan Capistrano, Calif. The USHJA extends special thanks to the hosts of the Jumper Championships this year.
