President's Letter

Hello Fellow Marchador Aficionados!

Happy Spring, finally!

I see reports of new foals and people out riding their beloved equine companions and it makes me so happy! We’re waiting for May for our foals, five of them, because the weather in Montana is (usually) fair enough for new babies!

I have been doing a lot of miles getting our four Marchador athletes ready for the 2024 Endurance Season. They’re coming along nicely. I’ll be grateful when ALL the trails here are clear of ice!

Please let us know what you’re doing with your horses! Photos are highly encouraged and we love to hear about what is going on in different Regions of the USA and Canada. Share your stories! This helps bring us together as a community.

Our USMMA Cavalgada Event is scheduled August 6 to 12, 2024. Provisional and Definitive Inspections, a Competition, The BIG RIDE, a Feast with a band. Please plan to attend! Let us know how we may help.

In Memory - Azenha de Maripa 2001-2024 by Lynn Kelley

When I first saw Azenha, she took my breath away. Her movement and spirit were instantly apparent. Azenha was imported from Fazenda Santarem, a magical place in Brazil. We went there for another mare – a daughter of Festa A.J. Although Dr. Olavo Monteiro had bought her at auction, Azenha was bred by Marcelo Baptista, Agro Maripa. Years later, Marcelo tracked her down wanting her back and he found her with us in the U.S.
